Umag is known for organizing the world famous tennis tournament ATP Croatia Open and numerous other sporting, cultural, entertainment, and music events.

There are exceptional long and interesting history since Roman times, when it was discovered by the former nobles and which are decided to turn it into a summer residence. The remains of that time are still visible at the Venetian houses in the old town and the surviving parts of the walls and towers, baroque buildings and the parish church.
